Connections

Last year I read a book by Jeffrey Gitomer called ‘Little Black Book of Connections’.  It is about connections and connecting.  It was a discovery for me because as I read I realized that I kept saying to myself, ‘I do that’ or ‘I am already like that’.  He had a lot of suggestions that help me maximize by natural inclination to connect. I have a heightened awareness of connecting and also annotating my connections.

My colleagues at work are often mentioning how many people I know and how easy I connect.  It reminds me of legos, and how putting them together in a certain way can create a design, and then rearranging them, another even larger design, all the while adding more pieces.  Makes life interesting because people ‘make the world go round’.

About 16 years ago I began keeping track of our family.  I created a spreadsheet with names, addresses, phones, email and later added birthdays.  Our family is somewhat mobile so this has been a living, breathing mechanism to help with connections and bonding.  And years before that, I volunteered to keep track of the family Christmas Gift rotation.  Why me?  Because I am a connector by nature.
